Blue Economy is an emerging economic prospect in Bangladesh. Recent maritime verdict with Myanmar and India has given us a vast sea area with abundance of resources. Presently huge Blue Economy activities are going on in Matarbari and Kutubdia. Considering the safety and security of the personnel and craft engaged in various Blue Economy projects, BN is conducting “Operation BLUE GUARD” since 01 March 2017. One BN Ship and one contingent remain deployed round the clock for ensuring the security of personnel and ships engaged in Blue Economy activities. Besides, BN ships regularly provide escort to liquefied natural gas  (LNG) carrying ships and necessary security support to domestic and foreign organizations engaged in Blue Economy activities i.e; SEISMIC survey, Oceanographic Research, Submarine Cable Laying Authority, etc.

BN runs three shipyards commercially. All these yards have successfully constructed number of warships and craft for Bangladesh Navy and other entrepreneurs. Recently Khulna Shipyard has constructed 02 Large Patrol Craft with Anti-submarine warfare (ASW) capability, 05 Patrol Craft and 02 very high-end Tugs specially designed for Submarine handling. Another Dockyard has achieved state of the art capability to construct different types of boats and craft.
