Lieutenant General Kamrul commissioned in the Corps of Infantry on 22 December 1989 with 21st BMA Long Course enjoys an illustrious military career of long 35 years.

 

The General attended a number of professional courses both at home and abroad. Few mentionable are - Mid Career Course from Pakistan; Army Staff Course from DSCSC Dhaka; Armed Forces Command and General Staff Course from Armed Forces Command and Staff College, Philippines; Higher Defence Management Course from College of Defence Management, Secunderabad, India and National Defence Course from NDC, Dhaka. He attained his Bachelor’s Degree in Science from Chittagong University, Masters on Defense Studies from National University, Masters of Business Administration in Digital and Technological Management from Royal Roads University, Canada (Bangladesh Campus) and Masters of Management Studies from Osmania University. He completed Level-1 CEFP in French language from Alliance Francaise, Dhaka and also attended Basic French Language Course from Bangladesh University of Professionals. He attained his Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in ‘Internet Usage in Political Communication: A Study on Selected Political Parties of Bangladesh’ from Jahangirnagar University, Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh.

 

His distinct military career is star-studded with a balanced composition of command, staff and instructional assigments. The General has long and distinguished command experiences at various echelons in the Army. Beside his regimental appointments as Company Second in Command, Adjutant and Company Commander, he commanded two infantry battalions (one being nominated for deployment in UN mission as contingent). He also commanded two infantry brigades (52 and 6 Infantry Brigade). As Commander, he supervised the raising of infantry units under 52 Infantry Brigade. He had been the General Officer Commanding, 66 Infantry Division and Rangpur Area, Commandant of Bangladesh Military Academy, Bhatiary, Chattogram and Senior Directing Staff in National Defence College. Recently, The General is posted in Chief Adviser’s Office, Armed Forces Division as Principal Staff Officer.

 

As Staff officer, he served as Deputy Assistant Military Secretary and Assistant Military Secretary at Army Headquarters, Military Secretary’s Branch. He also served as the Operations Officer, Sector Headquarters, UNMIL.

 

The General has in his credit the experience of serving as an Instructor at Bangladesh Military Academy, School of Infantry and Tactics (Tactics Wing) and Defence Services Command and Staff College. He also served as the Battalion Commander, 1st Bangladesh Battalion, Bangladesh Military Academy. Lately, he served as the Chief Instructor of Defence Services Command and Staff College.

 

He has over a decade of Active Operational Experience, Serving 6 years 10 months in Chattogram Hill Tracts Insurgency and 4 years 6 months working under United Nations in Middle-East and Africa.

 

As a Peacekeeper, the General has served in three UN missions. First; in UNIKOM- Kuwait as Mechanized Platoon Commander (as Captain), Second; in UNMIL- Liberia as Operations Officer (as Major) of a Sector Headquarters and third; in MINUSCA- Central African Republic as Sector Commander (as Brigadier General) of Sector West and Sector Centre. Last year, the General was awarded with BSP for his great contribution in peacetime operation.

 

The General enjoys a very happy conjugal life with his homemaker wife namely Rahima Akter. The couple has one son, he is a Post-graduate with Masters in Management and Organization from Stockholm University, Sweden following his graduation in Economics from Assumption University (ABAC), Thailand.

 

The General is a keen golfer. He loves travelling, listening music and especially reading books. He has travelled 44 countries across the globe.
